Description:
The Plaisir de Merle Chenin Blanc is made from 100% Chenin Blanc. The grapes were harvested by hand. The grapes were divided  into three different parts and each crushed, clarified and fermented separately.  Fourth and fith fill French oak barrels were used and the wine remained on the lees for 9 months. The barrels were rolled or stirred regularly to suspend the lees in order  to gain complexity, better integrated oak flavours and to add to the mouth-feel of  the wine.

Layers of melon, grapefruit and fleshy white pear. An elegantly textured wine with flavours that resonate the aromas of a cool summer day, a mouth coating creaminess on the palate with a lively crisp acidity to finish it off.

contains sulfites

The beautiful Plaisir Wine Estate is situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain between Paarl and Franschhoek. The wines produced here are inspired by the harmony of a rich history, the fertile soil and lush vineyards. Our quest in making exceptional wines would have found favour with Huguenot founder, Charles Marais. Charles Marais was one of only a handful of Frenchmen who had experience in winemaking when he arrived at the Cape and his vinous legacy lives on in Plaisir de Merle’s winemaking tradition.
