The Chateau was built in 1740, but since 1900 owned by the Bassereau family. Since 1990 the company is managed by Philippe Basserau and his wife Valerie. They are the 4th generation of the family who takes care of the viticulture here. The Chateau is near legendary area of Margaux, only on the other side of the Gironde. The vineyards enjoy an optimal location in the sun at one of the highest points of the area and partly because of this the wines belong to the best of the appellation. Indeed, these wines show great similarities with the wines of Pomerol and St. Emilion only much more attractively priced and often even of better quality.
