Color: red Character: dry, rarity! Vintage: 2018 Vineyards: De Grendel Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc Country: South Africa Region: Cape Town Alcohol content: 15% vol. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C Filling quantity: 0.75 liter Description: The Rubaiyat is De Grendel's flagship wine. It was first produced in 2006 when cellar master Charles Hopkins was asked by Sir David Graaff to make an "iconic" wine for the estate. Dry, dark purple in colour, aromas of dark plums, black fruits, hints of chocolate, herbs and spices, lively acidity, very long finish. De Grendel's flagship wine will richly reward ageing for 10 to 12 years by becoming increasingly velvety. As the tannins soften and integrate, the fruit may become slightly richer, but the lush elegance and nuances of spice will remain.
