The history of the the Lignères family is one of octors with wine in their veins! André, a general practitionner and Suzette, a pharmacist, have been followed by their children Jean, the village Doctor in Moux like his father, his wife Anne, Paul, a dentist and Geneviève a pharmacist- biologist. The family's ties to the wine world can be traced back to the sixteenth century, but it was in 1957 that André and Suzette Lignères bought la Baronne estate. Since then they have gradually expanded the domaine, acquiring the most attractive terroirs of the Alaric mountain, particularly Las Vals, which was acquired in the eighties. Throughout this period the assistance of Marc Dubernet was invaluable in helping develop the family's wines. In 2002, Richard Marlowe, a fan of the Domaine's wines, organized a meeting with the renowned Tuscan wine consultant Stefano Chioccioli. Since then we have developed a very close relationship with Stefano with a shared aim to showcase the complexity of the terroirs of the Alaric Mountain. Stefano is one of Italy's leading winemakers. He is certainly the most gifted person we've found in the wine world. He works with the Lignères with a great respect for the identity of the Domaine.
