Bruwer (pronounced 'Bru – ver') Raats (above) started Raats family wines in 2000. He'd studied Viticulture and Enology at Elsenberg, before setting off round the world to get experience. His travels, from 1995–99 took him to Bordeaux, Napa, the Rheingau and Tuscany. Then he came back to South Africa to make wine and specialized - with a very high quality awareness - in Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.
