Bodega Los Toneles – Mendoza Wine
As early as 1922, the Bodega Los
Toneles in Mendoza was founded
by the two Armando brothers, who
came from Italy. The architecture
of the winery reflects the golden
age of Argentina and is now a
landmark of the city of Mendoza.
With a lot of effort, the current
owner José Milan has renovated
and modernized the winery since
2002. In addition to a modern
wine cellar, the winery offers first-
class cuisine and many cultural
events on its premises.
The winery owns vineyards in
Mendoza's sub-regions of Uco
Valley (55 ha), Lujá de Cuyo (70
ha), San Rafael (10 ha), Lavalle
(200 ha) and in San Juan in the
Valle de Pedernal (125 ha). The
vineyards are located up to 1,200
m above sea level. The high-
altitude vineyards offer the Malbec
grapes the best opportunities to
slowly reach full ripeness. The
stony soils ensure that the fruity
wines have a fine minerality.
Using the latest technology, the
grapes are processed into very
good quality wines. The wines
mature in the barrel cellar for a
long time until they are bottled at
the winery. Robert Parker regularly
rates the winery's premium wines
with 90-94 points. |
